Dr. iur. Petru Emanuel Zlătescu serves as the Deputy Head of the Directorate for International Affairs at the Swiss Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC). In this capacity, he is responsible for advice on legislative proceedings and the negotiation of international agreements, as well as for representing the Commissioner in various international fora. He is also acting as a Swiss Delegate to the OECD Working Party on Data Governance and Privacy (DGP).
In addition to his work in the Swiss Federal Administration, Petru Zlătescu is also engaged in academia. He is an associate member of the International Academy for Comparative law (IACL/AIDC) and currently holds a position as Senior Lecturer and Researcher at the Law Faculty of the Fernuni University in Brig, Switzerland. Previously, he has been working at the European Law Institute as well as for the Chair of Constitutional Law of the University of Fribourg/Freiburg, Switzerland, where he also obtained his PhD in public international law. His main research areas include constitutional and administrative law, public international law, the law of the European Union, and the digital transformation of law.
