Alessandro Mantelero is Associate Professor of Private Law and Law & Technology at the Polytechnic University of Turin. In 2021-25 he held the EU Jean Monnet Chair in Mediterranean Digital Societies & Law. He is a member of the EDPB Support Pool of Experts, the OECD.AI Expert Group on AI, Data, and Privacy, a scientific advisor to the UNDP (United Nations Development Programme) on human rights and AI, and to the INTERPOL on data protection and AI. He has advised several organisations and governments on data regulation, AI, and human rights, including the Council of Europe (2016-2022), the UN, the European Commission, and the EU Agency for Fundamental Rights, the Brazilian Senate, the Government of the Dominican Republic, and the Catalan Data Protection Authority. He is a member of the European Law Institute’s Sub-Group on AI and has held visiting positions at several universities, including the Berkman Klein Center for Internet & Society, the Oxford Internet Institute, the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya, the Ada Lovelace Institute, and the Universidad de Murcia.
